While serving two terms on the Gloucester City Council, she witnessed first hand how local government struggles against rising costs and decreasing aid from the state. Now more than ever, the 5th Essex District needs a passionate advocate in the state legislature. Astrid will be a fresh voice and a tireless advocate for Essex, Gloucester, and Rockport."

Strengthening our Schools

We owe the next generation the opportunities provided by a good education. Healthy schools attract good jobs and support our local economy. The Commonwealth must live up to its promises to our children and our public schools.

Fair Share of Local Aid

As a City Councilor, I saw firsthand how vital state funding is to our quality of life ― helping us have clean water, public safety, and emergency medical care. I will build coalitions with other legislators to make sure we receive our fair share.

Sustainable Development

We need to move into the 21st Century while maintaining our community's character. Our sons and daughters should be able to live and work here. I will lead efforts to invigorate local businesses, especially in food production, the creative economy, and new technologies.
